| Magna Latch safety
gate latches are a revolutionary breakthrough in latching
security for most gates around swimming pools, homes
and other child safety areas. Powered by the latest
'Permanent Magnets' (which never loose power) these
quality latches incur no mechanical resitance to closure
and so offer unprecedented reliability, safety and child
resistance.
The popular 'Top Pull'
model is designed especially for pool gates but can
be fitted to any gate where child safety is important.
Pool Fencing
- All pools must have
a continuous safety barrier which is maintained
by the pool owner, and which resricts access by
young children to the pool and immediate surrounds.
- Owner's of pools built
before July 1993 are encouraged to upgrade pool
fencing to a level of safety that meets today's
standars for new pools.
Barrier Requirements complying
with AS 1926.1
Fencing must be constructed:
- so the outside of
the fence is an effective barrier to young children.
- so it is permanent.
- so it does not provide
access for young children to climb over by foot
and hand holds, or crawl under.
- not less than 1.2
metres high.
Gates to the pool area
must:
- only swing outward
from the pool area.
- be self closing from
any position.
- be fitted with a latching
device which is out of reach to small children (generally
1.5m above ground level).
Doors providing direct
access from the house to the pool area must be fitted
with:
- a door closer.
- a self latching device
located at least 1.5m from floor level.
